The Judgment of the Living and 9/11
By Bud Alavezos
We are living in the final moments of this earth’s history. We are the last generation And we have been told that the final movements will be rapid ones. Regarding the second coming, I remember more than 70 years ago people saying “the clock is at 5 minutes to twelve”. Now, 70 years later Christ has not come prompting many to question and doubt. Peter speaks of scoffers saying “where is the promise of His coming?”. So what is the difference between 70 years, or even 150 years ago and now. The answer is simple for those who have eyes to see; “fulfilled prophecy”. Dan 11:40b was fulfilled in 1989 and Rev 7:1-3, Isa 27:8, EW 38, and 20MR 216 were fulfilled on Sept 11, 2001. These prophecies will be explained in detail.
Sister White speaking of the opening of the Judgment of the living states:
“Dear brethren and sisters, Christ is soon to come. Will He find you ready and waiting? The bridal lamps must be kept trimmed and burning. His chariot wheels have been delayed because of His long-suffering to usward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance and have eternal life.” {10MR 266.2}
“I address you who shall have this epistle brought before you, who are leaders, who may be termed princes among the people: "Be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the Lord" (Isaiah 52:11). Humble your souls before God. Jesus is in the sanctuary. We are in the great day of atonement, and if the investigative judgment has not already commenced for the living, it will soon begin and to how many are the words of the true witness applicable: "I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead. Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.” {10MR 266.3}
Two issues must be considered regarding the previous quote. First and foremost is that these words were penned many years ago. In other words, God’s prophet stated “if the judgment had not commenced for the living, it will very soon begin.” What a solemn thought! And more importantly, according to Ezekiel 9, judgment begins at the house of God. And her statement was written almost 140 years ago. Another point to consider is that the words were written in the context of a soon coming Sunday law. Two years later congress sought to enact the Blair Bill imposing a Sunday Law (mark of the beast) on its constituents. Judgment must precede the sealing of the 144,000 which will be the ensign (Isa. 5:26, Zech. 9:16) lifted up to all nations. This judgment of the living must occur prior to the Sunday Law test, which is soon to transpire. Project 2025? Check it on YouTube.
God desires an unfolding of truth for each generation.
“Ever since the first promise of redemption was spoken in Eden, the life, the character, and the mediatorial work of Christ have been the study of human minds. Yet every mind through whom the Holy Spirit has worked has presented these themes in a light that is fresh and new. The truths of redemption are capable of constant development and expansion. Though old, they are ever new, constantly revealing to the seeker for truth a greater glory and a mightier power.” {COL 127.3}
“In every age there is a new development of truth, a message of God to the people of that generation. The old truths are all essential; new truth is not independent of the old, but an unfolding of it. It is only as the old truths are understood that we can comprehend the new. When Christ desired to open to His disciples the truth of His resurrection, He began "at Moses and all the prophets" and "expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning Himself." Luke 24:27. But it is the light which shines in the fresh unfolding of truth that glorifies the old. He who rejects or neglects the new does not really possess the old. For him it loses its vital power and becomes but a lifeless form.” {COL 127.4}
Do we, as Adventists really expect truth to be ever developing? and do we believe that there is a new development of truth for each generation? Do we understand that we are the 4th generation; the last generation for Adventism and of this world?
Luke is describing the days in which we are living.
“And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed [them] all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.” Lk. 17:26-30
Let’s consider a new truth addressing the judgment of the living and the sealing. It is reasonable to accept that in order for God’s people to be sealed, judgment must have previously occurred. This can be understood in the description of the 144,000 which will be living at the second coming and taken to heaven without seeing death. According to Exodus God’s name is His character.
“And the LORD descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD. And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear [the guilty]; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth [generation].” Ex. 34:5-7
The 144,000 have their Father’s character and have been judged to have no guile.
“And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty [and] four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads. And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps: And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred [and] forty [and] four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth. These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, [being] the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb. And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.” Rev. 14:1-5
There is an Islamic connection to the sealing:
The Trumpets of Rev. 8 & 9 are judgments against Rome and their armies. The first four Trumpets of Revelation 8 are judgments against pagan Rome. However, notice how verse 13 separates the last three Trumpets from the first four.
The last three Trumpets are "Woes". And they are Islam.
Uriah Smith addressing Revelation 9 in his book “Daniel and the Revelation” quotes Alexander Keith saying, “There is scarcely so uniform an agreement among interpreters concerning any other part of the Apocalypse as respecting the applications of the fifth and sixth trumpets, or the first and second woes, to the Saracens and the Turks…” D&R 493
If the first two woes were Islam, we can expect the last woe to be Islam. Islam was a refuge to God’s people and a scourge to their enemies.
Multiple times, when God’s true people who fled into the wilderness were about to be attacked by the armies of papal Rome, Islam would come suddenly and unexpectedly and Rome’s plans against the church in the wilderness had to be abandoned. This can be seen reading between the lines in Rev. 9:1-4. Additionally, notice the connection of Islam with the sealing:
“And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit. And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads.” Rev. 9:1-4
Ellen White defines the bottomless pit as a new manifestation of satanic power. See (GC 268.3)
Other symbols of Islam:
“And the shapes of the locusts [were] like unto horses prepared unto battle;…”Rev. 9:7
“And they had a king over them, [which is] the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue [is] Abaddon (destroyer), but in the Greek tongue hath [his] name Apollyon (destroyer).” Rev. 9:11
Locusts, horses, Abaddon, Apollyon, sun and air darkened, grass of the earth, green thing, tree are symbols to be addressed later:
Note how Revelation 7, specifically addressing the 144,000, is a parallel contextual passage.
“And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree. And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.” Rev. 7:1-3.
Ellen White commenting on Revelation 7:1-3 states:
“I saw four angels who had a work to do on the earth, and were on their way to accomplish it. Jesus was clothed with priestly garments. He gazed in pity on the remnant, then raised His hands, and with a voice of deep pity cried, "My blood, Father, My blood, My blood, My blood!" Then I saw an exceeding bright light come from God, who sat upon the great white throne, and was shed all about Jesus. Then I saw an angel with a commission from Jesus, swiftly flying to the four angels who had a work to do on the earth, and waving something up and down in his hand, and crying with a loud voice, "Hold! Hold! Hold! Hold! until the servants of God are sealed in their foreheads." {EW 38.1}
“I asked my accompanying angel the meaning of what I heard, and what the four angels were about to do. He said to me that it was God that restrained the powers, and that He gave His angels charge over things on the earth; that the four angels had power from God to hold the four winds, and that they were about to let them go; but while their hands were loosening, and the four winds were about to blow, the merciful eye of Jesus gazed on the remnant that were not sealed, and He raised His hands to the Father and pleaded with Him that He had spilled His blood for them. Then another angel was commissioned to fly swiftly to the four angels and bid them hold, until the servants of God were sealed with the seal of the living God in their foreheads.” {EW 38.2}
Both Revelation 7:1-3 and the above passage from Early Writings are referencing Sept 11, 2001. And at that time the winds of strife (four winds) were held in check. Jesus was pleading His blood four times (according to the Early Writings passage) to hold those winds on 9/11.
Sadly, on 9/11 God’s people were the dead dry bones of Ezekiel 37 and not ready for the sealing process. It was for this reason only, the winds were held in check.
“The Lord is full of resources. He has no lack of facilities. It is because of our lack of faith, our earthliness, our cheap talk, our unbelief, manifested in our conversation, that dark shadows gather about us. Christ is not revealed in word or character as the One altogether lovely, and the chiefest among ten thousand. When the soul is content to lift itself up unto vanity, the Spirit of the Lord can do little for it. Our shortsighted vision beholds the shadow, but cannot see the glory beyond. Angels are holding the four winds, represented as an angry horse seeking to break loose and rush over the face of the whole earth, bearing destruction and death in its path.” {20MR 216.6}
“Shall we sleep on the very verge of the eternal world? Shall we be dull and cold and dead? Oh, that we might have in our churches the Spirit and breath of God breathed into His people, that they might stand upon their feet and live. We need to see that the way is narrow, and the gate strait. But as we pass through the strait gate, its wideness is without limit.” {20MR 217.1}
“We need now to arise and shine, for our light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon us. We have no time to talk of self, no time to become like the sensitive plant, that cannot be touched without shrinking. In Jesus Christ is our sufficiency. Will we talk faith? Will we talk of the glorious hope, of the full and abundant righteousness of Jesus Christ, provided for every soul? I tell you in the name of the Lord God of Israel that all injurious, discouraging influences are held in control by unseen angel hands, until every one that works in the fear and love of God is sealed in his forehead.” {20MR 217.2}
Islam traces its lineage back to Ishmael and Abraham. Note this passage from Genesis.
“And he will be a wild man; his hand [will be] against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.” Gen 16:12
“Wild” in the above verse, according to Strongs H6501 is pereh or wild (ass). Thus we see another contextual link to Islam of Rev. 9 as well as the angry horse of the passage from 20 MR 216.6. God’s prophet also connects Islam to the dead dry bones of Eze. 37. Furthermore, Ellen White is linking the breath, four winds, and sealing to Ezekiel 37:9-11.
“Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live. So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army. Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts.” Eze. 37:9-11
Sister White, quoting 1 Cor. 10:11 and 1 Pet. 1:12, states that all the prophets spoke more for our day than for the day in which they were living. Addressing the dry bones, she writes more pointedly.
“But not only does this simile of the dry bones apply to the world, but also to those who have been blessed with great light, for they are like the skeletons of the valley.” RH Jan 17, 1893
Undoubtedly these bones are Adventism, which needs the breath of God breathed into them individually so that God can lift up an ensign to the nations.
“How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth! Thy watchmen shall lift up the voice; with the voice together shall they sing: for they shall see eye to eye, when the LORD shall bring again Zion. Break forth into joy, sing together, ye waste places of Jerusalem: for the LORD hath comforted his people, he hath redeemed Jerusalem.” Isa. 52:7-9
“Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean.” Isa. 52:1
“And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.” Isa. 11:12
“And it shall come to pass in the last days, [that] the mountain of the LORD's house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.” Isa. 2:1-3
Ellen White also states:
“The work of the Holy Spirit is to convince the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment. The world can only be warned by seeing those who believe the truth sanctified through the truth, acting upon high and holy principles, showing in a high, elevated sense, the line of demarcation between those who keep the commandments of God and those who trample them under their feet. The sanctification of the Spirit signalizes the difference between those who have the seal of God and those who keep a spurious rest day.” {7BC 980.8}
“When the test comes, it will be clearly shown what the mark of the beast is. It is the keeping of Sunday. Those who, after having heard the truth, continue to regard this day as holy bear the signature of the man of sin, who thought to change times and laws” (Letter 12, 1900). {7BC 980.9}
Isaiah speaks to the holding of the four winds:
“In measure, when it shooteth forth, thou wilt debate with it: he stayeth his rough wind in the day of the east wind.” Isaiah 27:8
There are five symbols in this passage to be addressed:
#1 “In measure”—measure is a lesser or prescribed amount; not the whole or full. This will be dealt with in its context shortly.
#2 “when it shooteth forth”, The obvious question is, when what shooteth forth? Notice this contextual link in Luke 21.
And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees; When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand. So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled. Lk. 21:29-32
The above verse is addressing the judgment soon to come upon the Jewish nation. However, its perfect fulfillment is speaking to the final moments of this earth’s history. When the trees bud, summer is near. What is it that causes the trees to bud? It is the latter rain.
Summer is identified by Jeremiah as judgment.
“The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.” Jer. 8:20
Therefore when Isa. 27:8 speaks of “shooting forth” in the context of staying the rough wind (four winds) It is addressing the identical subject as Revelation 7:1-3 with the addition of the beginning (in measure) of the latter rain. Judgment and the sealing of the ensign to be lifted up to the nations logically must precede the great outpouring of the latter rain.
“In measure”in the context of this passage is addressing a partial outpouring or sprinkling of the Holy Spirit/latter rain. In John 20:22, Christ breathing on His disciples prior to the outpouring at Pentecost typifies 9/11 and the final outpouring of the latter rain.
“The act of Christ in breathing upon his disciples the Holy Ghost, and in imparting his peace to them, was as a few drops before the plentiful shower to be given on the day of Pentecost. Jesus impressed this fact upon his disciples, that as they should proceed in the work intrusted to them, they would the more fully comprehend the nature of that work, and the manner in which the kingdom of Christ was to be set up on earth.” 3SP 242.4
Christ received the Spirit without measure and that is His desire for us.
“Here are revealed the heights of attainment that we may reach through faith in the promises of our heavenly Father, when we fulfill His requirements. Through the merits of Christ we have access to the throne of Infinite Power. 'He that spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?' Romans 8:32. The Father gave His Spirit without measure to His Son, and we also may partake of its fullness. Jesus says, 'If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him?' Luke 11:13. 'If ye shall ask anything in My name, I will do it.' 'Ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.'” John 14:14: 16:24. {GC 477.1}
#3 “Thou will debate with it”
Isa. 27:8 states that when the latter rain/judgment of the living begins there will be a debate (argument).
There was a debate/argument in Millerite history. All the churches were perfectly fine with accepting that Jesus was coming back to this earth to receive and take back to heaven a sanctified people. It wasn’t until the 1843 chart was published, setting the exact time in the year 1843, that the churches began closing their doors to the Millerites.
Peter tells us that in the last days there will be scoffers:
“Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as [they were] from the beginning of the creation. For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day [is] with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.” 2 Pet 3:3-10
#4 “rough wind”
The four winds of Early Writings p. 38 is addressing 9/11. Isaiah’s rough wind is the four winds of Rev.7:1-3. It follows that Isa. 27:8 is also speaking to 9/11.
#5 “in the day of the east wind”
The rough winds (four winds) are stayed (held in check) in the day of the “east wind”. So the question is, how to understand the symbol of the east wind? William Miller’s Rule #5---"Scripture must be its own expositor, since it is a rule of itself.”
The first mention of the east wind is found in Genesis 41:6 & 7. Pharaoh dreamed that seven good ears of corn were devoured (death and destruction) by the seven thin ears blasted by an east wind.
Exodus 10 is also addressing a judgment against Egypt.
“And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the land of Egypt for the locusts, that they may come up upon the land of Egypt, and eat every herb of the land, [even] all that the hail hath left. And Moses stretched forth his rod over the land of Egypt, and the LORD brought an east wind upon the land all that day, and all [that] night; [and] when it was morning, the east wind brought the locusts. And the locusts went up over all the land of Egypt, and rested in all the coasts of Egypt: very grievous [were they]; before them there were no such locusts as they, neither after them shall be such. For they covered the face of the whole earth, so that the land was darkened; and they did eat every herb of the land, and all the fruit of the trees which the hail had left: and there remained not any green thing in the trees, or in the herbs of the field, through all the land of Egypt.” Ex 10:12-15
Notice the east wind brought the locust (the symbol of Islam in Rev. 9). The land was darkened (Islam in Rev. 9). The land and trees were consumed of any green thing (Islam in Rev. 9).
The above passage is addressing the plagues upon Egypt. However Ellen White links Egypt to the world. More importantly, the passage comes from the first page after the chapter entitled, “The Seal of God”.
“ I am filled with sadness when I think of our condition as a people. The Lord has not closed heaven to us, but our own course of continual backsliding has separated us from God. Pride, covetousness, and love of the world have lived in the heart without fear of banishment or condemnation. Grievous and presumptuous sins have dwelt among us. And yet the general opinion is that the church is flourishing and that peace and spiritual prosperity are in all her borders.” {5T 217.1}
“The church has turned back from following Christ her Leader and is steadily retreating toward Egypt. Yet few are alarmed or astonished at their want of spiritual power. Doubt, and even disbelief of the testimonies of the Spirit of God, is leavening our churches everywhere. Satan would have it thus. Ministers who preach self instead of Christ would have it thus. The testimonies are unread and unappreciated. God has spoken to you. Light has been shining from His word and from the testimonies, and both have been slighted and disregarded. The result is apparent in the lack of purity and devotion and earnest faith among us.” {5T 217.2}
Ezekiel 27, though addressing Tarshish, and the entire world economics of Ezekiel’s time, states that the world economics will be broken by the east wind in the midst of the seas. This prophecy, according to ST, April 2, 1896 par. 10, is speaking more to the downfall of world economics of our day.
“The ships of Tarshish did sing of thee in thy market: and thou wast replenished, and made very glorious in the midst of the seas. Thy rowers have brought thee into great waters: the east wind hath broken thee in the midst of the seas. Eze. 27:25, 26
According to historians the ships of Tarshish were sent from the two ports of Tyre. Tarshish and Tyre are synonymous. Isaiah 23:15 clearly identifies Tyre as the papacy that was forgotten 70 years (symbolizing from the deadly wound to the healing, after which it would commit fornication with all the kingdoms of the world). Daniel states that the papacy/king of the north meets its end between the seas.
“And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.” Dan. 11:45
Is between the seas a connection to Islam?
Psalms gives us a second witness to the Islamic/east wind involvement in destruction of world economics.
“Thou breakest the ships of Tarshish with an east wind.” Ps. 48:7
9/11 was the beginning of the plagues upon Egypt (the world). At the Sunday law in the US, if not before, we should expect to see a much greater attack by Islam. And as the Sunday law is forced on the entire world, we can expect an impact by Islam upon the world as well.
The first mention of Islam is found in Genesis. Islam will be a wild man whose hand will be against every man and every man’s hand will be against him. More important for end time eschatology, he will be everywhere, and not assimilate with the local cultures (dwell in the presence of all his brethren).
“And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Behold, thou [art] with child, and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael; because the LORD hath heard thy affliction. And he will be a wild man; his hand [will be] against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.” Gen. 16:11, 12
After the worldwide Sunday law prophecy declares.
“And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation [even] to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.” Dan. 12:1
God’s prophet specifically addresses those great buildings in New York. She also connects the destruction of those great buildings to Rev. 18:1-3 which is the fourth angel and the final call out of Babylon.
"How comes the word that I have declared that New York is to be swept away by a tidal wave? This I have never said. I have said, as I looked at the great buildings going up there, story after story, 'What terrible scenes will take place when the Lord shall arise to shake terribly the earth! Then the words of Revelation 18:1-3 will be fulfilled.' The whole of the eighteenth chapter of Revelation is a warning of what is coming on the earth. But I have no light in particular in regard to what is coming on New York, only that I know that one day the great buildings there will be thrown down by the turning and overturning of God's power. From the light given me, I know that destruction is in the world. One word from the Lord, one touch of his mighty power, and these massive structures will fall. Scenes will take place the fearfulness of which we can not imagine.” {RH, July 5, 1906 par. 14}
In 9 Testimonies, of the chapter entitled “The Last Crisis”, beginning on page 11, Ellen White writes:
“We are living in the time of the end….On one occasion, when in New York City, I was in the night season called upon to behold buildings rising story after story toward heaven. These buildings were warranted to be fireproof, and they were erected to glorify their owners and builders. Higher and still higher these buildings rose, and in them the most costly material was used. Those to whom these buildings belonged were not asking themselves: "How can we best glorify God?" The Lord was not in their thoughts.”{9T 12.1}
“I thought: "Oh, that those who are thus investing their means could see their course as God sees it! They are piling up magnificent buildings, but how foolish in the sight of the Ruler of the universe is their planning and devising. They are not studying with all the powers of heart and mind how they may glorify God. They have lost sight of this, the first duty of man." {9T 12.2}
“As these lofty buildings went up, the owners rejoiced with ambitious pride that they had money to use in gratifying self and provoking the envy of their neighbors. Much of the money that they thus invested had been obtained through exaction, through grinding down the poor. They forgot that in heaven an account of every business transaction is kept; every unjust deal, every fraudulent act, is there recorded. The time is coming when in their fraud and insolence men will reach a point that the Lord will not permit them to pass, and they will learn that there is a limit to the forbearance of Jehovah.” {9T 12.3}
“The scene that next passed before me was an alarm of fire. Men looked at the lofty and supposedly fire-proof buildings and said: "They are perfectly safe." But these buildings were consumed as if made of pitch. The fire engines could do nothing to stay the destruction. The firemen were unable to operate the engines.” {9T 13.1}
“I am instructed that when the Lord's time comes, should no change have taken place in the hearts of proud, ambitious human beings, men will find that the hand that had been strong to save will be strong to destroy. No earthly power can stay the hand of God. No material can be used in the erection of buildings that will preserve them from destruction when God's appointed time comes to send retribution on men for their disregard of His law and for their selfish ambition.” {9T 13.2}
9/11 was an earth-shattering experience for the US (the earth beast of Revelation 13). It was also a turning point.
Carefully consider this quote.
“There are periods which are turning points in the history of nations and of the church. In the providence of God, when these different crises arrive, the light for that time is given. If it is received, there is spiritual progress; if it is rejected, spiritual declension and shipwreck follow. The Lord in His word has opened up the aggressive work of the gospel as it has been carried on in the past, and will be in the future, even to the closing conflict, when Satanic agencies will make their last wonderful movement. From that word we understand that the forces are now at work that will usher in the last great conflict between good and evil-- between Satan, the prince of darkness, and Christ, the Prince of life. But the coming triumph for the men who love and fear God is as sure as that His throne is established in the heavens.” {BEcho, August 26, 1895 par. 11}
Was 9/11 a turning point for the United States? Of the three planes, one hit the financial structure of the US causing an economic impact that lasted years. A second plane hit the pentagon which is the head of the military complex. And the final plane crashed into the earth of the earth beast (second beast of Revelation 13).
In addition, 9/11 was an attack by Islam after the papacy (the King of the North) with the aid of the United States, using its military might (chariots and horsemen) as well as financial/economic impact (ships) in order to destroy what Ronald Reagan (earth beast) considered to be the Antichrist. In 1989 the then King of the South/USSR fell. This was in direct fulfillment of Daniel 11:40b and was the beginning of the final generation.
For clarity we will separate and explain parts a & b of Dan. 11: 40.
“And at the time of the end shall the king of the south (France) push at him (king of the north/papacy/deadly wound)…” Dan. 11:40a
The time of the end for the above passage was 1798. France under Napoleon sent his general Berthier to Rome to take the pope captive. Within a year he died in prison and the papacy has not had control over kings or kingdoms since. This was the end of the 1260-year rule of the papacy over the kings of the earth. However Rev. 13:3, 11-18 Identifies that the deadly wound would be healed. Dan. 11:40b through verse 45 prophesies of the healing of the deadly wound, as well as the final destruction of the King of the North/papacy. This process began in 1989, which is the time of the end for this final generation. Therefore:
At the time of the end 1989 = Dan. 11:40b
“…and the king of the north (papacy with aid of US/false prophet) shall come against him (King of the South) who at this time had progressed from France to the USSR) like a whirlwind, with chariots (military), and with horsemen (military), and with many ships (economics); and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over.” Dan. 11:40b
A few years prior to 1989 Ronald Reagan sent his head of intelligence (CIA) John Foster Dulles to the Vatican for secret meetings with pope John Paul II to address the Communism of the USSR. This was a repeat fulfillment of a prophecy in Daniel 11.
“We have no time to lose. Troublous times are before us. The world is stirred with the spirit of war. Soon the scenes of trouble spoken of in the prophecies will take place. The prophecy in the eleventh of Daniel has nearly reached its complete fulfillment. Much of the history that has taken place in fulfillment of this prophecy will be repeated. In the thirtieth verse a power is spoken of that 'shall be grieved, and return, and have indignation against the holy covenant: so shall he do; he shall even return, and have intelligence with them that forsake the holy covenant.'" [Verses 31-36, quoted.] {13MR 394.1}
“Scenes similar to those described in these words will take place. …” {13MR 394.2}
Verse 30.
“For the ships of Chittim shall come against him: therefore he shall be grieved, and return, and have indignation against the holy covenant: so shall he do; he shall even return, and have intelligence with them that forsake the holy covenant.” Daniel 11:30
In verse 30 the power (pagan Rome) that was grieved (because the first 4 Trumpets followed Constantine’s Sunday law in 321 A.D.) returned (to Rome but not as a conqueror) and had indignation against the holy covenant (Sunday law, persecution of true Christians and burning bibles), also had intelligence with them that forsake the holy covenant. (Papal Rome is the power that forsook the holy covenant.) This portion of the prophecy was literally fulfilled when Justinian, in 533 A.D. decreed the bishop of Rome the “head of all the churches” and “the corrector of heretics”. That history was repeated once Ronald Reagan sent the head of the CIA to Rome to corroborate against the King of the South/USSR. The original King of the South was Egypt. Pharaoh said “who is God that I should obey Him?” This is essentially atheism, which had evolved from Egypt to France in 1798 and later in the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917, to the Communistic USSR by 1989, which was the time of the unholy alliance between Ronald Reagan and the papacy.
Again, Islam attacks the armies of Rome and national apostasy is followed by national ruin. Therefore we understand that after the US government had "intelligence" with those who had forsaken the holy covenant, becoming the False Prophet of Rev. 16:13, it was attacked by Islam.
But, was 9/11 2001 a turning point in the history of the SDA church? Sadly, a directive was issued stating that if anyone desired to work in ministry for the Conference, courses in Spiritual Formation were required. Spiritual formation is an extension of the spiritual exercises of the Jesuit leader Ignatius Loyola. Amazingly, incredibly, the directive was dated September, 2001.
The Bible Echo quote states that “when these crises arrive, the light for that time is given."
What was the light that was given at 9/11? The answer is, that the 3rd Woe had arrived, the judgment of the living had begun, and the latter rain had started to sprinkle.
Was the light accepted? Isa. 27:8 tells us that it will be debated.
What is the result of rejecting the light? According to the Bible Echo quote, “spiritual declension and shipwreck follow."
“A revival of true godliness among us is the greatest and most urgent of all our needs. To seek this should be our first work. There must be earnest effort to obtain the blessing of the Lord, not because God is not willing to bestow His blessing upon us, but because we are unprepared to receive it. Our heavenly Father is more willing to give His Holy Spirit to them that ask Him, than are earthly parents to give good gifts to their children. But it is our work, by confession, humiliation, repentance, and earnest prayer, to fulfill the conditions upon which God has promised to grant us His blessing. A revival need be expected only in answer to prayer. While the people are so destitute of God's Holy spirit, they cannot appreciate the preaching of the Word; but when the Spirit's power touches their hearts, then the discourses given will not be without effect. Guided by the teachings of God's Word, with the manifestation of His Spirit, in the exercise of sound discretion, those who attend our meetings will gain a precious experience, and returning home, will be prepared to exert a healthful influence.” 1 SM 121.1
“And he turned him unto [his] disciples, and said privately, Blessed [are] the eyes which see the things that ye see: For I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen [them]; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard [them].” Luke 10:23, 24
